ComfortableMay 30, 2010
By Liora Hess I wore this during a vacation to Savannah, Georgia. At first I took the plastic liner out, but I found that the pouch doesn't hold its shape without the liner, so I ended up putting it back in. It's comfy, very soft and doesn't make you hot.
I didn't have any problem with the belt slipping. If the manufacturer had issues with this in the past, they appear to be fixed.
Design-wise, there are a few things that could be improved:
--Finding a way to get it to hold its shape due to the problem mentioned above. That could be a sewn-in plastic liner, some kind of backing, something.
--There's no clasp, which ends up being kind silly because you have to make the belt loose and then either step into it or pull it over your head.
--The belt is very long due to lack of a clasp. You can cut it, as I did, but you still need to leave enough length so that you'll be able to step in or pull it over your head to your waist.
I notice several people having mentioned sewing the belt after cutting it shorter. It appeared to be made out of nylon rather than silk, so I cut it and then took a match and melted the end. It worked just fine, but it did leave a black line. I scraped off any charred portions with a fingernail, washed the blackened tip (so any charred remnants wouldn't get on me or my clothing), let it air dry and that was it. Another option would be to use clear nail polish on the end after making the cut. I do that with ribbon markers in books, and it works well.
I'd recommend this. It's probably cooler than the full nylon money belts. It's practically invisible under clothes if you wear it at your waist with the pouch below your pants/skirt. It's well made, and I expect to use it on many more travels.

Good for what it was, but not entirely needed.Apr 28, 2009
By MICOC The moneybelt worked well enough, though it was actually too hard to get the money or credit cards out. It turns out that you don't actually need it. Keep a little money secreted about your person, leave the rest at the hotel, hidden away. Never bring your passport around with you. If you do a lot of shopping, the moneybelt would be useful to carry your credit card. However, its more of an alerter, saying "I'm a tourist, steal from me."
